From Paris to Marrakech – We have kept the climate action up and worked during COP 22 with our partners. Our aim was to work for a more sustainable world through serious climate action. In collaboration with CAN International, FES supported a delegation of 15 members from CAN Arab World to participate in COP 22 in Marrakech, like it did the year before.
The aim was to to gather all the national focal points of the Climate Action Network from the sub-regional networks from the Mashrek and Maghreb in Marrakech in order to work together on more ambitious actions froem the MENA governments.
The representatives of different national civil society networks participated actively during the negotiations and different side-events that took place during COP22. The participants were also very active during the negotiations and interacted fruitfully with delegations from their respective countries.
Moreover, several meetings with Ministers and other officials of several countries were organized in which all the participants successfully lobbied the official delegation representatives of their countries to take serious steps towards limiting climate change to 1.5 C.
